Geometrical aspects of alpha dose rates from UO2 based fuels

Models for calculating dose rates of spherical particles as well in fuel cracks are important radionuclide source term estimations. Dose from UO2 based fuels were calculated planar, spherical, and crack geometries. The escape probability ?-particles was derived a continuous equation. rate increased with increasing radius due to the decreasing relative volume surrounding water layer. model produced probabilities that closely predicted by theoretical derivation. It shown filled width smaller than range an ?-particle led dissolution lower per unit surface area.
